 Warning Signs Of Failing Brakes:

  • Loud screeching or squealing when you hit the brakes. That’s the sound of metal grinding because your pads are too thin and have worn down. On average, brake pads are 1/4th inch thick, and anything significantly thinner than that should be cause for concern.
  • If your brake pedal sinks to the floor when you press down on it, that could indicate a brake fluid leak or air leak in the brake hose, meaning your braking is not transferring to your break pads.
  • Does your vehicle jerk to one side or decelerate unevenly when you try to stop? This means the brake shoe lining is wearing asymmetrically or that your brake fluid has been compromised and is not providing pressure correctly.
  • If your car is vibrating, that indicates warped rotors or that your car needs an alignment in order to fix the problem.

If you see any of the warning signs mentioned above you should do your best to have your brakes inspected quickly so that any issues can be taken care of before they cause damage to your vehicle or more serious harm.
